Dermatology

The general Dermatology division deals with conditions related to Skin, Hair, and Nails. The Venereology division deals with all sexually transmitted diseases, including HIV. The Leprosy Division deals with all the stages of Leprosy and its complications. The Cosmetic Dermatology Division deals with all cosmetic procedures related to Skin, Hair, and Nails. The department of dermatology at KIMS keeps abreast of the latest developments in the field and is well equipped to perform various dermatological treatments and procedures apart from accurate diagnosis, or even troublesome, acute and chronic skin problems.

Venereology

It is the branch of medical science that deals with the diagnosis and treatment of sexually transmitted diseases (STD) also known as ‘venereal diseases’. Venereal diseases include bacterial, viral, fungal, and parasitic infections. Some of the major diseases are HIV infection, syphilis, gonorrhea, candidiasis, herpes simplex, human papillomavirus infection, and genital scabies. Other sexually transmitted infections studied in the field include Chancroid, Lymphogranuloma Venereum, Granuloma Inguinale, Hepatitis B and Cytomegalovirus infection.

Leprosy

It is a chronic bacterial disease of the skin and nerves in the hands and feet. And in some cases the lining of the nose. It is not clear how the germ is spread, but household and prolonged closed contact tends to increase contagion. The germs get in the air through the nasal discharge of untreated lepromatous patients. Patients with leprosy should be treated by a skin specialist who has experience with the disease. Treatment is with multiple drugs for six months to two years. The best way to prevent the spread of leprosy is the early diagnosis and treatment of people who are infected.
