Dr. Samir R. Shah is the Chairman – Hepatology & Liver Intensive Care at Nanavati Max Super Speciality Hospital. With 33+ years of experience, he is a highly respected hepatologist specializing in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of complex liver diseases, liver transplantation, and hepatobiliary disorders.

Dr. Shah completed his MBBS and MD (General Medicine) from Mumbai University, followed by a DM in Gastroenterology from Madras University. Prior to joining Max Healthcare, he served as the Director of the Department of Hepatology and Intensive Liver Care Unit at Gleneagles Hospital, Mumbai, and has also been a consultant at leading institutions including Breach Candy Hospital, Jaslok Hospital, and Sir HN Hospital.

His areas of expertise include chronic hepatitis B and C, fatty liver disease (NAFLD), acute and chronic liver failure, hepatic encephalopathy, liver cancer, hepatobiliary diseases, liver transplantation, and post-transplant care. He has played a pivotal role in establishing a successful liver transplant program and is widely recognized for his expertise in managing critically ill liver patients.
