Mr. Ali Abakar Hamid, a  international patient, visited Fortis Memorial Research Institute, Gurugram, with complaints of upper abdominal pain for one year and an 8 kg weight loss. He had a previous history of chronic Hepatitis B and was not taking treatment for the same.

After reviewing his medical history and clinical condition, the patient was supported and coordinated by the Yashfiin Health team, with Miss. Kirti, a member of the Yashfiin Health team and the Case Manager, closely coordinating his medical care and evaluation.The patient was subsequently evaluated by the Gastroenterology & Hepatobiliary Gastroenterology team under the guidance of Dr. Rinkesh Bansal.
Comprehensive investigations, including ultrasound and triple-phase CT scan of the abdomen, were performed. The evaluation did not reveal any significant abnormality. Upper GI endoscopy showed prominent oesophageal veins and a patulous LES, while colonoscopy revealed small internal haemorrhoids.

The patient was managed with appropriate medical treatment and supportive care during his hospital stay. He was also evaluated by the relevant specialty teams. His symptoms gradually improved, and he was able to tolerate oral intake well without any new complaints. Before discharge, the patient and his family were counselled regarding his condition, pending investigations, medications, diet, lifestyle modifications and follow-up care. He was discharged in a clinically improved condition with further follow-up advised.
