Spinal tenderness and spasms may also be present, along with significant spondylosis, resulting in reduced lumbar spine motion.

The diagnosis of scoliosis and kyphosis is often based on the presence of pain, but confirmation and evaluation of the severity of the curvature or deformity require X-rays.

Treatment for adult patients with scoliosis or kyphosis depends on factors like pain severity, nerve compression, spinal deformity, age, and general medical condition. Conservative treatment is typically recommended, unless there is significant neurological deficit, such as leg weakness and numbness. Physical therapy, oral medications, and epidural steroid injections or nerve root blocks may be prescribed to manage pain and symptoms.
